Section – A 20 Marks
1. What are inductive and deductive methods in microeconomics? Also, explain the theory of production and its application in Nepali economy. 2+3=5
2. Define Gross Domestic Product (GDP). How does it differ from Gross National Product (GNP) in terms of scope and measurement? Explain. 2+3=5
3. Provide a brief introduction to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and discuss it’s roles in the economy of Nepal. 2+3=5
4. Explain the role of private equity funds and venture capital in the financial market. Critically examine the operation of such vehicles in Nepal’s financial market. 4+6=10
5. Explain the different methods of data collection (interviews, questionnaires, Observation, document analysis and online survey). Discuss the advantages and limitations of each method and give examples of research topics suitable for each. 5+5=10
6. Nepal has been practicing an open and liberal economy since the 1980s decade. This had brought pros and cons in the economy. Nepal’s economy has transformed from agricultural sector to service sector without sufficient development and expansion of industrial sector. It has transformed into a remittance and import based economy. Government has not been able to collect enough revenue as per the target leading to pressure in government treasury and government is deferring the payment of development expenses and austerity measures has also not worked perfectly. Another concern is the increase in imports of primary products and export/import ratio has been recorded high. However, the remittance inflow has been increasing supporting to foreign reserve which is sufficient for the import goods and service for more than 15 months.
in this perspective, it is perceived that the Nepali economy is still in pressure and interrelation between all four sectors of the economy has not been functioning well. This demands the second generation economic reforms, operational efficiency and fiscal discipline to rebound the Nepali economy to the high growth trajectory path. In this background, answer the following questions: 3 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15
a) Explaining the basic characteristics of the Nepali economy, show the interrelation between the four sectors of the economy of Nepal.
b) Discuss the current macroeconomic situation of Nepal with facts and figures.
c) Explain the structural problems of the Nepali economy.
d) Prepare the list of sectoral recommendations for the second-generation economic reform and prepare the action plan to implement them.

10. How does research support to promote insurance business in Nepal? Explain two major areas of research and development of insurance industry in Nepal. (5+5=10)
11. The performance evaluation is a major tool in assessing the capacity of an employee while performing the duties in an organization. Furthermore, it is also helpful in identifying the potentiality of a person in order to hold higher positions. But in the public enterprises of Nepal, the techniques adopted to evaluate the performance of the personnel seem not be adequate as marks obtained in it, are not conclusive to pick the best among the aspiring candidates for the promotion. The factors other than performance evaluation are seen to be determinant for upward progression.
In this context, identify the problems encountered in administering performance evaluation in the public sector and analyze the reasons of it. In addition, suggest the measures to be undertaken to make performance evaluation system more objective and conclusive in determining the potentiality of an employee for the career development 4 + 5 + 6 = 15
